John Burtis, CPA
John B. Burtis, CPA, a principal in the firm, graduated from the University of Notre Dame in 1988 with a Bachelors Degree in Accountancy.
Mr. Burtis is responsible for a broad base of clients, including individuals, businesses and partnerships in the real estate, manufacturing, retail and professional service industries.
He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accounts and the New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants. Mr. Burtis has served on the Board of Directors of the Boys and Girls Club of Binghamton, Inc. He is on the Finance Committee of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Binghamton, New York. Mr. Burtis is a past president of the Southern Tier Chapter of the New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants.
He has four children and resides in Binghamton with his wife, Susan.
Scott M. Hotalen, CPA
Scott M. Hotalen, CPA, a principal in the firm, graduated from Binghamton University with a Bachelors Degree in accounting in 1995.
He has worked as the engagement partner numerous audit, review and compilation engagements for a wide variety of businesses and organizations, including construction contractors, not-for-profit organizations and various commercial entities.
He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accounts and the New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants. Mr. Hotalen is on the Board of Directors for Visions Federal Credit Union. He is a former board member of the New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants and is serving on the Board of Directors of the Southern Tier Chapter of the New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants.
Mr. Hotalen resides in Vestal with his wife and three children.
In Memory of Patrick J. Price, CPA
(1967-2024)
Patrick earned his BA in Economics from Cornell University and holds an MS in Accounting from Binghamton University. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants and has served as an officer and past President of the Southern Tier Chapter of the NYSSCPAs.
His practice is concentrated in all areas of taxation and tax planning for individuals, businesses, and fiduciaries. He specializes in valuations of closely held businesses and estate, gift and trust taxation and compilation and review engagements.
Patrick served as an Allocation Panel Chair and member of the Community Services Division of the Broome County United Way. He is a member of the Cornell Club of the Southern Tier, Red Sox Nation, the Binghamton Country Club, and the Estate Planning Council of Southern New York. Patrick is also a 2000 graduate of the Broome Leadership Institute.
When not working he enjoys golfing, running, traveling, and listening to the Grateful Dead.
Nikki Mayers, CPA
Nicole R. Mayers, CPA (Nikki), a principal in the firm, graduated from Binghamton University with a B.S. in Accounting. A native of the Bronx, New York, Nikki entered public accounting in 2008. She joined Vieira & Associates CPAs, P.C. in May 2012.
Nikki manages several of our key engagements including several not-for-profit audits and reviews and school district audits. Nikki specializes in governmental accounting and auditing and not-for-profit accounting and auditing.
She is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accounts and the Southern Tier Chapter of the New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants. Nikki served on the Board of Directors for a few not-for-profit organizations and is currently serving as a Treasurer of a local not-for-profit organization.
Nikki is a past President of the Southern Tier Chapter of the New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants. In July 2020, she was recognized by the New York State Certified Public Accountants as one of the top 40 CPAs under 40 years of age.
She currently resides in Pennsylvania with her husband, Tim, and their three children.
Lisa D. Leard, Certified Public Accountant
Lisa is a certified public accountant and a principal in the firm who supervises a number of our key engagements. She is a graduate of both Broome Community College and Binghamton University’s school of management. She graduated from BCC in 2004 with an A.A.S. in Accounting and Binghamton University in 2012 with a B.S. in Accounting.
She entered the public accounting industry in 2005. She has performed tax services, audit, reviews, and compilations for various clients, including for profit, not-for-profit, and governmental entities.
Lisa has experience in preparing various tax returns, including individuals, partnerships, corporations, estates, trusts, non-profit, and gift tax returns. She also performs bookkeeping services and prepares sales and payroll tax returns.
Lisa is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants.
